New JPEG format:- Windows Media Photo

Last Wednesday Microsoft unveiled their new image format. It is called Windows Media Photo and will be supported in Windows Vista.
Microsoft claims the new format has a very high compression level that can result in half the size of a JPEG file. Not only does compression save storage space, which is especially important for devices such as cell phones and digital cameras, a smaller file can also print faster, transfer faster and help conserve battery life on devices.
We will have to wait and see how this turns out but Windows Media Photo (WMP) was developed by the same people who worked on Windows Media Video (WMV) and Audio (WMA), so it should be rather good!

Windows Media Photo will be supported in Windows Vista and also be made available for Windows XP.

Mystery of Rosetta & Universal Binary

Hi friends
As all of you know Mac is going to be Intel chip based, the much hyped event from Apple computers. Present Mac are called PowerPC based Mac & new Mac would be called Intel based Mac. Mac had gone through a complete hardware transformation, which had been very difficult for Apple. With new Intel based Mac, you must come across a new word "Universal Binary". You must be wondering what this "Universal Binary" is? So here is some feed for your curiosity.
Till now, applications were being written, targeting PowerPC based Mac.
But as Intel based Mac has been introduced by Apple, it is obvious that application built for PowerPC based Mac would not run on Intel based Mac due to their hardware differences. Now a big question has come in front of applications developers, would they require producing two executables for their applications, one for PowerPC based Mac
& other for Intel based Mac? And Apple answer to this million dollar question is "No".
To protect developers from this undesirable situation, Apple has come with a new buzz world "Universal Binary". Universal binary means executable which is universally acceptable means a single executable which would run smoothly on all Mac, irrespective of whether it is PowerPC based Mac or Intel based Mac. You would see a new Universal logo with application having Universal binary. If you see the Universal logo on a new application that means it will run on Intel- and PowerPC-based Mac computer. All Mac OSX series machine support "Universal binary". Here I want to tell you one thing, executable for PowerPC based Mac & Intel based Mac would be embedded into a single Universal binary, it means a single Universal binary would have two executable one for each platform. So size of Universal binary would be greater than each indivisible executable.

This is all about new applications which are still on papers. What about existing
running applications on PowerPC based Mac. Would they be able to run on Intel based Mac. And Apple has answer to this million dollar question too, in the form of "Rosetta".
Some of you, who are working on Mac or who had worked on Mac, must know that we can run Mac OS 9 application in Mac OSX. When a user double clicks OS 9 application, first classic environment is launched & OS 9 application runs under this environment. Same concept is with "Rosetta". What you have to do just double click on any PowerPC based application & rest is done by magic of Rosetta. You'll never see it, you'll never configure it, and you'll never have to think about it. It's built into Mac OS X to ensure that most of your existing applications live a long and fruitful life.

One thing is evident next is going to be Apple's era........................

IPod crisis

Hi Friends,
I know, many among us must have IPod. I too have a Nano IPod .It is a very cool & magnificent product of Apple computers, with exciting features to lure upon. But in then end, it is a device like others & it may malfunction. When it behaves in
a chaos manner, it feels annoying & you get one more tension to get it repair. For customers convenience, Apple has suggested some way to correct software malfunctioning (Refer IPod manual). If all these ways do not work out, for this case Apple has provided software "IPod Updater" to format your IPod.

But sometimes situation gets worst even then this, like in may case. What was happening with my IPod, as soon as I connected it to my PC (Windows & Mac both) through USB port, it got hang every time. My PC was not recognizing IPod, not even iTune. I tried every way listed in manual, but nothing worked out. At last I decide to run "IPod Updater", but I got shock when it said "Please connect an IPod" although my IPod was already connected with PC. After lots of efforts, finally I found a way to cure my ill
IPod. Friends, if you are facing same problem, then use this solution
"Connect IPod with PC & restart it by pressing Center + Upper button. When
it is restarting, keep pressing Center + lower button, until it does not start in Safe mode.
You can verify it by seeing "Safe Mode" written on your IPode screen. If it does not, try again. In safe mode your IPod behaves just like a hard drive. Now your PC would detect it & you can format it using any disk format utility. Even "IPod Updater" would detect it, you can format IPod this also. Now disconnect it , restart your IPod , again connect with PC & enjoy your IPod again. Cheers……………"

Friends, Keep one thing in mind, this is for Nano IPod.
And even after this, it does not solve your problem, and then try a simple solution
"Search for a service center & get it repair "……………….
